பொருள்
காட்டு யானையைக் கொன்ற காட்டில் வாழும் புலி, அந்த யானை தன் இடப்பக்கமாக விழுந்தால் அதை உண்ணாமல் பசியால் இறந்துவிடும். அதுபோல, மானம் மழுங்கும் வழியில் வருமானால், விரிந்த வானுலகமே கைக்கு வந்தாலும் மேன்மக்கள் அதை விரும்பார்.
Meaning
The forest tiger that has killed a wild elephant will not eat it if it falls on its left side; it would rather die of hunger. So too, if it came at the cost of dulling their honour, the noble would not want even the wide heaven itself placed in their hands.
