முந்தை வினைகுறுக மூவா மயல்கொண்டான்சிந்தை யினுங்கடுகச் சென்றதே - சந்தவிரைத்தார்குன்றா மெல்லோதி தன்செயலைத் தன்மனத்தேதேர்கின்றா னூர்கின்ற தேர்.

பொருள்

முந்தை வினைகள் நெருங்க, மூவாத மயக்கம் (காதல் மயக்கம்) கொண்டான்; சிந்தையிலும் அது விரைந்து சென்றது; விரைந்த வாசனையுடைய மாலையையுடைய அவன், தன் செயலைத் தன் மனத்தே ஆராய்கிறான்; தேரோ ஊர்கிறது.

Meaning

As former deeds drew near, unfailing delusion seized him, and it sped on in his mind as well; he of the swift-scented garland weighs his own deed within, while the chariot flies.

இப்பாடல் உள்ளத்தின் வேகத்தைக் காட்டுகிறது. தேரும் ஊர்கிறது, மனமும் ஊர்கிறது. அதாவது வெளி வேகமும் உள் வேகமும் ஒன்றாகும்.

சுவையான நுட்பம்: 'மூவா மயல்' — மூப்படையாத, அழியாத மயக்கம். வயது ஆகியும் காதல் மயக்கம் குறையவில்லை. நளவெண்பாவின் காதல் இன்னும் பசுமையானது.

Explanation

The verse shows the speed of the mind: the chariot flies and the mind flies, outer speed and inner speed becoming one.

Subtly, the delusion is one that does not age: years have not worn away his love, so the love in Nalavenba is still fresh.
