Aeratippaar koaletuppa inthaen thotaipeerik / Kaaratuththa soalaik katanaatan - thaeratuththa / Maaththozhilu miththozhilum maarruthiyoa venruraiththaan / Thaerthozhilin mikkaanaith thaernthu.
'In return for your skill with horses I give you the knowledge of dice; will you exchange with me the craft of horses and this craft?' he said, to the one who excelled in the chariot-craft.
The verse shows an exchange of knowledge: the science of dice in return for the craft of horses — each has a skill, and sharing it is friendship.
Subtly, the dice-science is the very thing that ruined Nalan; now it is to save him. One knowledge, two outcomes — the purpose makes the difference.
