Explanation

Bharathiyar rejects the habit of praising weakness as a virtue. The Mundaka Upanishad says 'nayam atma balahinena labhyah' (3.2.4): this Self is not attained by the weak. Even the spiritual life needs strength.
Swami Vivekananda said, 'Strength is life, weakness is death.' Bharathiyar grieved to see a people worn thin by poverty and subjection, and he teaches that accepting such decline is a shame.
