பொருள்
ஒருவனை நண்பனாகக் கொண்ட பின், அவனுடைய குற்றத்தையும் குணத்தையும் ஆராய்ந்து நான் திரிவேனானால், நண்பனின் மறைபொருளைக் காக்காதவன் செல்லும் இழிந்த வழியிலேயே நானும் செல்வேனாக; அலைகடல் சூழ்ந்த உலகம் என்னைக் கண்டு நகைக்கட்டும்.
Meaning
If, after taking a man as my friend, I go about weighing up his faults and his virtues, then let me go the way of the man who betrayed his friend's secret, and let the world ringed by the roaring sea laugh at me.
