பொருள்
நெருக்கடி வந்த நேரத்தில், என்னை நண்பனாகக் கொண்ட ஒருவனின் அரிய உயிரைக் காக்க நான் விரைந்து கைநீட்டாவிட்டால், நம்பிய நண்பனின் காவலுடைய இல்லத்தைக் கெடுத்தவன் செல்லும் இழிந்த வழியில் நானும் செல்வேனாக; உலகம் என்னைப் பற்றி நீண்ட காலம் பழித்துப் பேசட்டும்.
Meaning
If, in his hour of danger, I do not rush to stretch out my hand to save the precious life of the man who made me his friend, then let me go the way of the man who violated his trusting friend's guarded home, and let the world speak of my shame for ages to come.
