The Mahabharata, Virata ParvaKichaka in the Dance Hall
From the Mahabharata. In their year of hiding, Draupadi served Queen Sudeshna of Virata as the maid Sairandhri. The queen's brother Kichaka, commander of the army and proud of his strength, desired her and would not take no for an answer. He even struck her before the king's court.
Draupadi went to Bhima. She told Kichaka to meet her alone at night in the dance hall. Kichaka came eagerly, and found Bhima waiting in the dark. By morning the mighty commander was dead. A man who reaches for another's wife reaches for his own ruin.
