Meaning

Explanation

Like the first Valli song, this is Murugan's voice, but it is short and sung in a single breath.

The last line is its peak: 'I have come to become you.' The lover has not come only to meet his beloved; he has come to become her. Bharathiyar puts the advaitic experience, two becoming one, in the language of love.

Calling Valli 'the eye of wisdom' is telling. Behind it is the Shakta and Shaiva understanding that the Lord sees and acts in the world only through his Shakti.

To reflect on

'I have come to become you.' If love ends in becoming one, what must be given up on the way?
