Aatukoa taaki atharitai ninrathooum / Kaazhkonta kannae kaliranaikkum kanthaakum / Vaazhthalum anna thakaiththae oruvanraan / Thaazhvinrith thannais seyin.

Meaning

A sapling standing by the path, nibbled by goats down to a stick, once its wood has hardened, becomes the post to which an elephant is tied. A man's life is the same if he builds himself up without giving in.

Explanation

The stick goats nibble today is the post that holds an elephant tomorrow. A small start is no shame.

With steady effort anyone can harden like seasoned heartwood.

Today's twig is tomorrow's elephant post.
