Explanation
In Tamil numerals 8 is ௮ and 2 is ௨, written just like the letters அ (a) and உ (u). So commentators read 'eight and two' as the letters a and u. These parts of the Omkara are explained as Shiva and Shakti, or as the Lord and the soul. The Lord dances in the order 'Sivayanama', the order that puts grace first (verse 42). At Thillai too, Nataraja's dance is honoured together with the linga form in the sanctum.
