Meaning

One needs the grace of the son of Shiva whose matted locks are adorned with serpents; one must worship with blossoming love his lovely feet wearing kura flowers and anklets; the scattering of the five cruel senses must end; the mind's trembling must end. If all this is needed, it is surely not easy to abide in that place where there is neither night nor day!

Explanation

He who earlier said 'be still' so simply admits here how hard it is. That state comes only when grace, love, mastery of the senses and calm of mind come together.

From the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 6

A mind like the wind

At Kurukshetra, as Krishna explained the yoga of meditation, Arjuna said honestly, 'Krishna, the mind is restless, turbulent, strong and obstinate. To control it seems as hard as controlling the wind.' Krishna did not deny it: 'Yes, the mind is hard to restrain. But by constant practice and detachment it can be mastered.' Admitting the difficulty is where practice begins.
