Puranic traditionGanesha Circles His Parents
From Puranic tradition. One day Narada brought a rare fruit of wisdom to Kailash. When the question arose whether it should go to Ganesha or Murugan, Shiva said, 'The fruit goes to whoever first goes around the world.'
Murugan at once mounted his peacock and set off around the world. Ganesha calmly walked around his parents, Shiva and Parvati, and bowed to them. 'My parents are my world,' he said. Delighted, Shiva gave the fruit to him.
With a single circle, Ganesha showed the world that parents are the first gods we know.
