Meaning

She who fronts him crying 'strike me!' is Death; she who will not enter the hearth at the hour is a rare disease; she who will not serve the food she cooked is a demon dwelling in the house. These three are weapons that kill the man who married them.

Explanation

Three states climb in order: Death, a rare disease, and a demon living in the house. The first two destroy the body; the third stays inside the house and destroys from there. That climb is where the verse cuts.

'Weapons that kill the man who took them' — these weapons do not come from outside; they are aimed at the husband himself. It is a harsh satire. A household lives by each doing their part; when a part is refused, what was a place to live in becomes a thing that kills. The charge here belongs to no one side alone; refusing one's share is the fault.

To reflect on

A household lives by each doing their part; refusing a share is what destroys it.
