ஒளிவீசும் தோகை மயிலும் வேலும் என்றும் நமக்கு வாய்த்த துணையாக உள்ளன; ஆகவே மரணம் என்னும் அபாயம் நமக்கு இல்லை. மொட்டுப் போன்ற கிண்கிணி அணிந்த திருவடிப் பெருமை உடையவனே, இந்திராணியின் மங்கல நாணைக் காத்த அருளாளனே, ஞானத்தின் இருப்பிடமே, தேவர்களின் சூரியனே!
Death is no danger to us, for the radiant-plumed peacock and the spear are our companions forever. O Lord of glorious feet with bud-like anklet bells, compassionate one who guarded the sacred marriage thread of Indrani, abode of wisdom, sun of the gods!

சூரன் தேவர்களை அடிமைப்படுத்தியபோது இந்திரன் மறைந்து வாழ்ந்தான். இந்திராணி சீர்காழியில் ஐயனாரின் காவலில் தவம் செய்தாள். சூரனின் தங்கை அஜமுகி அவளைப் பிடித்துச் செல்ல வந்தாள். ஐயனாரின் படைத்தலைவன் மகாகாளன் அஜமுகியின் கையை வெட்டி இந்திராணியைக் காத்தான். முருகன் சூரனை வென்ற பின் இந்திரனும் இந்திராணியும் மீண்டும் விண்ணுலகில் இணைந்தனர். அவள் மங்கல நாண் காக்கப்பட்டது முருகனின் அருளால்.
When Sura enslaved the gods, Indra lived in hiding. Indrani did penance at Sirkazhi under the protection of Ayyanar. Sura's sister Ajamukhi came to seize her, but Ayyanar's commander Mahakala cut off Ajamukhi's arm and saved her. After Murugan defeated Sura, Indra and Indrani were reunited in heaven. Her marriage thread was preserved by Murugan's grace.
