Kundaiyur Kizhar used to send paddy to feed Sundarar and his devotees at Thiruvarur. One year, in a great famine, there was no paddy. As the grieving Kizhar slept, by the Lord's grace paddy piled up like a mountain. When Sundarar sang a hymn saying there was no one to carry it, Shiva's bhuta hosts carried the paddy all over Thiruvarur in a single night. The Lord himself sets out to end his devotees' poverty.
