Explanation
The five pure tattvas differ by how the Lord's knowledge (jnana) and action (kriya) are manifest. Knowledge predominates in suddha vidya, action in Ishvara, and the two are equal in Sadashiva. Shakti is the power of action; Shiva is the knowledge that supports it. Shiva and Shakti cannot be separated, like the sun and its light. That is why we worship the Lord as 'Ammaiyappan', Mother and Father, and as Ardhanarishvara.
To reflect on
Are knowledge and action balanced in our life, or does one outweigh the other?
