Srimad Bhagavatam, Tenth CantoKrishna Studies with Sandipani
From the Srimad Bhagavatam, Tenth Canto. After overcoming Kamsa, Krishna and Balarama went to study at the gurukula of the sage Sandipani in the city of Avanti.
Though he was the all-knowing Lord, Krishna served his teacher and learned like an ordinary student. He mastered many texts, the Vedas and their limbs, the science of archery and the treatises on conduct, and learned the sixty-four arts in sixty-four days.
As his gift to his teacher, he brought back from the realm of Yama the guru's son, who had drowned in the sea. The Lord himself studied many books to show the world the worth of learning.
