Mahabharata, Sabha ParvaShishupala's Hundred Insults
From the Mahabharata, Sabha Parva. Shishupala, king of Chedi, was Krishna's cousin. When he was born, Krishna had promised his aunt, "I will forgive him a hundred offences."
At Yudhishthira's Rajasuya sacrifice, the first honour was given to Krishna. Shishupala rose in anger and insulted Krishna for the whole assembly to hear, abusing Bhishma and the Pandavas too. Krishna calmly bore each insult.
Even after the hundred offences were spent, Shishupala would not stop. Then Krishna released the Sudarshana discus, and Shishupala fell. The one who uttered abuse crossed the limit of his own words and perished.
