From the Srimad BhagavatamPaundraka, the False Vasudeva
From the Srimad Bhagavatam. Paundraka, king of Karusha, was flattered by those around him: 'You are the real Vasudeva; Krishna is an impostor.' Believing it, he made imitations of all Krishna's emblems.
He had a conch, a discus, a mace and a bow made of wood. He wore a fake Kaustubha jewel and a garland of forest flowers. He even strapped on two artificial arms so that he appeared four-armed, and raised a banner bearing Garuda. Then he sent a message to Krishna: 'I am Vasudeva. You must not bear my emblems. Give them up and surrender to me.'
The court of Dwaraka laughed. Krishna went out to the battlefield and smiled at the sight of Paundraka in his costume. The battle began, and Krishna's Sudarshana discus put an end to the impostor.
However widely the turkey spreads its wings, it does not become a peacock. Dressing up did not make Paundraka into Krishna.
