Explanation

Stand on the path to liberation. Veedu here is not a building but moksha, release from the cycle of births.

Going beyond fleeting pleasures to seek the lasting truth is life's final goal. That needs resolve and clarity.

Katha Upanishad

Nachiketa and Yama

From the Katha Upanishad. The sage Vajashravas gave away old, useless cows in a sacrifice. Seeing this, his young son Nachiketa asked again and again, "To whom will you give me?" His angry father said, "I give you to Death!"

To honour his father's word, Nachiketa went to the realm of Yama and waited three days without food. When Yama returned, he granted three boons. For the third, Nachiketa asked, "What lies beyond death? What is the truth of the self?"

To test him, Yama offered long life, wealth, kingdoms and every pleasure instead. Nachiketa firmly refused: "All these are fleeting; keep them yourself." Pleased, Yama taught him the knowledge of the undying self. The boy who stood firm, wanting nothing but liberation, attained it.
