Meaning

He is the Lord who taught his own true meaning to Shiva, half of whose holy form is green; he is the warrior of the spear. Could the true love, tested and proven, that leads one to go to him, praise him and be saved, ever be false? From where did the understanding that achieves this by weeping, worshipping and melting come to meet me here?

Explanation

Weeping, worshipping and melting are not mere emotion; they bring understanding. The poet wonders where that understanding came from: it too is his grace.

From Shiva Purana tradition

The sage Bhringi

The sage Bhringi worshipped only Shiva, never Uma. When the two sat together on Kailasa, he took the form of a bee, slipped between them and circled Shiva alone. Grieved, Uma did penance to be joined inseparably with Shiva. Shiva took her as the left half of his body and became Ardhanarishvara. Then Bhringi too understood that Shakti and Shiva are one, and bowed to both.
