Explanation

At dissolution, as everything perishes, Shiva and Shakti dance. What stays unchanged even in that dance is the Supreme. Those who have fixed their running mind at Murugan's feet become That.

From the tradition of Chidambaram

Patanjali and Vyaghrapada

The sage Patanjali, an incarnation of Adisesha, and the sage Vyaghrapada, who had been given tiger's feet, did long penance in the Thillai forest to see Shiva's dance of bliss. On a Thaipusam day, Shiva danced the Ananda Tandava in the little hall as Mother Sivakami watched. Both sages saw it and were immersed in timeless bliss. Devotees believe that dance goes on at Chidambaram even today.
