Srimad Bhagavatam, First CantoNarada's Previous Birth
From the Srimad Bhagavatam, First Canto. Narada told Vyasa about his previous birth. In that life he was the young son of a maidservant. A group of sages stayed in their village for a whole rainy season, and the boy was set to serve them.
He served them humbly, ate the remains of their meals with their permission, and listened to the hymns they sang in praise of God. Day by day his mind grew pure and devotion blossomed in him.
That company of the noble raised him in his next birth to become the divine sage Narada. "A few days spent among the good changed my life," Narada said.
