Mahabharata, Drona Parva'Ashvatthama Is Dead'
From the Mahabharata, Drona Parva. In the Kurukshetra war, no one could defeat Drona. Krishna said that if he heard his son Ashvatthama was dead, he would lay down his arms. Bhima killed an elephant named Ashvatthama and shouted, "Ashvatthama is dead!"
Drona did not believe it and asked Yudhishthira, who never lied. Yudhishthira said aloud, "Ashvatthama is dead," and said "the elephant" under his breath. Drona laid down his weapons.
Until then, Yudhishthira's chariot had always moved a little above the ground. At that very moment, it touched the earth. A single word that did not tell the whole of what was seen brought down even the king of truth.
