பொருள்
ஆனந்த யோகம் நிகழும் மகனே! அன்று வள்ளலாகிய இறைவன் அருளால் வாய்மலர்ந்தபடி, தெளிந்த சிறப்புடைய ஆகமங்கள் சொன்ன வரிசையிலேயே, இதை உள்ளபடி உனக்கு உரைக்கிறேன்; மனம் ஒன்றிக் கேள்.
Meaning
My son, in whom the yoga of bliss is happening! Just as the bountiful Lord graciously spoke it then, in the very order the clear and glorious Agamas teach, I will tell you this as it truly is. Listen with your whole mind.

விளக்கம்
குரு சீடனை "புதல்வா" என்று அழைக்கிறார். சைவ மரபில் குருவுக்கும் சீடனுக்கும் உள்ள உறவு தந்தை மகன் உறவு போன்றது. தாம் சொல்வது தம் சொந்தக் கருத்து அன்று, இறைவன் அருளிய ஆகமங்களின் வரிசைப்படியே என்கிறார். இதுவே சைவ சித்தாந்தக் குரு மரபின் பணிவு: நந்தி தேவர் முதல் சனற்குமாரர், சத்தியஞான தரிசனிகள், பரஞ்சோதி முனிவர், மெய்கண்டார் என்று உபதேசம் இடைவிடாமல் வந்தது.
Explanation
The guru calls the disciple 'son'. In Shaiva tradition the bond between guru and disciple is like that of father and son. He says that what he teaches is not his own opinion but follows the order of the Agamas given by the Lord. This is the humility of the Shaiva Siddhanta lineage: the teaching came down unbroken from Nandi Devar to Sanatkumara, to Satyajnana Darsanigal, to Paranjothi Munivar and to Meykandar.
