பொருள்
நிலம் முதலிய ஐந்துக்கும் சொல்லப்படும் அதிதெய்வங்கள் யார் யார் என்றால், பிரமன் முதலிய ஐவர். அவர்களுக்கு ஒவ்வொரு தொழில் சொல்லும்போது, படைத்தல் முதலிய ஐந்தையும் குறைவின்றிச் செய்வார்கள் என்று பார்.
Meaning
Who are the presiding deities of earth and the other four? They are the five, beginning with Brahma. And when we speak of the work of each, see that they carry out the five acts, beginning with creation, without fault.

நிலத்துக்குப் பிரமன், நீருக்குத் திருமால், நெருப்புக்கு உருத்திரன், காற்றுக்கு மகேசுவரன், ஆகாயத்துக்குச் சதாசிவன் என்று ஐந்து பூதங்களுக்கும் ஐந்து அதிதெய்வங்கள். சிவபெருமான் தாமே இவர்கள் வழியாக ஐந்தொழில்களையும் நடத்துகிறார் என்பது சைவ சித்தாந்தம். இவர்கள் தனித்தனிக் கடவுளர் அல்லர்; ஒரே பரம்பொருளின் ஆணைப்படி செயல்படும் மூர்த்திகள்.
Explanation
Brahma presides over earth, Vishnu over water, Rudra over fire, Maheshvara over air and Sadashiva over space. Shaiva Siddhanta teaches that Lord Shiva Himself carries out the five acts through them. They are not separate gods but forms that act at the command of the one Supreme.
