வால்மீகி இராமாயணம், கிஷ்கிந்தா காண்டத்திலிருந்து. அனுமன் இராமனையும் சுக்ரீவனையும் சந்திக்க வைத்தான். அக்னியை சாட்சியாக வைத்து அவர்கள் நட்பு உறுதி செய்தனர்.
அதன் பின் இராமன் சுக்ரீவனின் முழுக் கதையையும் பொறுமையாகக் கேட்டான்: வாலியுடன் ஏற்பட்ட பகை, மனைவியை இழந்தது, நாட்டை விட்டு ஓடியது. சுக்ரீவனும் இராமனின் வலிமையை அறிய விரும்பினான்; இராமன் ஒரே அம்பால் ஏழு சால மரங்களைத் துளைத்தான்.
இருவரும் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் அறிந்து, ஒருவர் துயரை மற்றவர் உணர்ந்து இணைந்தனர். அதனால்தான் அந்த நட்பு சீதையைத் தேடும் பெரும் பணியில் இறுதிவரை நிலைத்தது.
